I'd like to move my worms to the basement because our house is really small and our bedroom isn't an ideal spot :P However, it's not warm enough down there so I'll have to give them some heat. Does anyone have any recommendations for heating meal worms?

Hi everyone -- I am rather new to mealworm farming...bought a batch of 500 online to start a colony to feed as treats to our small flock of chickens (7 as of yesterday). I received the batch in September and built a breeding rack. The worms pupated and turned to beetles, but the beetles don't seem to be laying any eggs. The rack I built uses the screen method so that the eggs fall down into the substrate below and away from the beetles. After months of trying and waiting, there are still no eggs or larvae. The only piece of the puzzle that I am still not sure about is the temperature. Many of the online videos and websites state that 75-80 degrees is what to aim for, but in the survey posted to this website, many of you stated a temperature well below that. I have my setup in my unfinished (but climate controlled) basement. This time of year it is a steady 68 degrees. Will that completely stunt the egg production? Or do I possibly have sterile beetles? Thanks!
